Strength in Numbers Challenge a Success
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The 2011 I-Club membership drive, the Strength in Numbers Challenge, was a success as each I-Club chapter increased its membership total.
The goal of the Strength in Numbers Challenge was to increase I-Club membership in each chapter by 10% in an effort to raise the overall level of membership to its highest participation number by June 30, 2011. The initiative increased total I-Club membership by over 10 percent.
Three I-Club chapters were recognized based on the highest percentage growth of members. The Boone/Story I-Club increased its membership by 31 percent and won the grand prize, press box access for eight at a 2011 Iowa football game. The Carroll Area I-Club, with a 26 percent increase, claimed the second place prize, four courtside seats and club room access to a 2011-12 men’s or women’s basketball game at newly renovated Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The third place prize winner, with a 17 percent increase, was the Southeast Iowa I-Club. The third place winner was awarded lunch and a tour of the Paul W. Brechler Press Box. All I-Clubs who achieved their 10 percent goal received special I-Club gifts.
“Growing I-Club membership is vital to sustaining our 100 percent self-supporting, first class athletic department and we are pleased with the results of the membership drive.” said Scott Brown, Associate Director of Development, Intercollegiate Athletics. “We appreciate the commitment made by Hawkeye fans everywhere who take their Hawkeye pride to the next level by joining the I-Club.”
I-Club members are Hawkeye fans who contribute $50 or more annually to UI intercollegiate athletic programs through the UI Foundation. More than 12,000 friends and alumni of the University are I-Club members, representing nearly every county in Iowa and state in the nation.
