Fort Dodge is Hosts Local Hawk Fans at I-Club Spring Banquet

Fort Dodge, IA

An enthusiastic crowd of 300 Hawk fans attended Thursday evening’s Webster County I-Club Spring Banquet at the Starlight Village in Fort Dodge. Jon Miller with Hawkeye Nation served as the emcee and led the fun-filled evening.

LeVar Woods, former NFL player and current football staff member, couldn’t say enough about how Chris Doyle (Strength & Conditioning Coach) and Head Coach Kirk Ferentz changed his life, shaping him into a better player and a better person. Iowa’s showing in the NFL, 12 players drafted in the last two years, is a testament to Coach Ferentz and staff preparing player for the NFL.

Jenni Fitzgerald, Women’s Basketball assistant coach, and Fran McCaffery both sang the praises of Jamie Printy as one of the best shooters in the country. Fitzgerald commented that, “Once Jamie walks into Carver you need to guard her, she can knock it down from anywhere.”

Coach McCaffery was welcomed to the microphone with a roaring standing ovation led by Wrestling Coach Tom Brands. McCaffery expressed his appreciation to Hawkeye fans for their support and shared insight into the coming season and their new recruits. He expects McCabe (Sophomore from Sioux City) to play more power forward this year.

The Webster County I-Club board members, led by Cynde Turner, felt the evening was a success. From the rowdy crowd to the great coach’s speeches, the successful auction and the addition of 23 new I-Club members, all signs point to a great Spring Banquet.
