Coach McCaffery Speaks at I-Club Event in Sioux City

Sioux City, IA

Head men’s basketball coach Fran McCaffery along with wrestling coach Tom Brands, women’s basketball assistant coach Jenni Fitzgerald, and football recruiting coordinator and tight ends coach Eric Johnson took the stage Tuesday, May 24 to recap their seasons, forecast future success and entertain the crowd of over 300 Hawk Fans at the Sioux City, IA Convention Center.

Coach McCaffery commented on how excited he is about the new players coming in and the impact he expects them to make on the team.   Also in attendance, representing Iowa men’s basketball, was Siouxland native sophomore Zach McCabe who saw playing time in all 31 of last season’s games. McCabe was sixth in team scoring, second in free throw percentage, and third in rebounds a year ago.

Director of Development Darryl Borcherding summarized the success of Hawkeye Athletics, the capital projects in progress and on the horizon for Iowa athletics and most importantly, thanked those in attendance for the impact each of them make in the lives of student-athletes by being members of the I-Club. President of the Siouxland I-Club, Bob Rasmus, was excited to welcome Iowa coaches and staff to the other side of the state, where the passion for the Iowa Hawkeyes is just as strong as it is in Iowa City.
