Record Crowd at Okoboji I-Club Banquet
The weather was challenging, but a record 500 Hawkeye fans and I-Club members were able to make their way to The Pavilion and Roof Garden in Arnold’s Park on Thursday night for the NW Iowa Lakes I-Club spring banquet. This event marked Lisa Bluder and Kirk Ferentz’s last night on the tour, so all the stops were pulled out and another great evening ensued.
Iowa Sports Information Director Steve Roe was the master of ceremonies, taking time to introduce local Hawks in the crowd, and reminding guests that Terry Brands, from nearby Sheldon, IA was also set to speak on the program. They were also joined by men’s basketball’s Kirk Speraw.
Kirk Strauss and Lonnie Saunders and their board work hard to draw a large crowd every year for this event, as well making efforts to support the Hawks both in competition and philanthropically from the other side of the state.
