Des Moines I-Club Spring Banquet held in Burlington
The Des Moines County I-Club Spring Banquet hosted a near record crowd of 485 for their 35th annual banquet held at the Pzazz Convention and Events Center in Burlington Thursday, May 19. Voice of the Hawkeyes Gary Dolphin led the evening program which featured Coaches Kirk Ferentz and Lisa Bluder, along with former Hawkeye and NBA player Ryan Bowen who is currently on the Men’s Basketball staff. Each coach highlighted their season and provided insight and thoughts on what fans should expect in the upcoming seasons.
Des Moines County I-Club President, Dick Benne, had the opportunity to recognize five individuals who have attended all 35 banquets and nearly 20 kids in attendance received gift cards to a local amusement park. Benne also presented Matt Henderson, Executive Director of Development for Intercollegiate Athletics, with their annual I-Club contribution of $1,500 to help further Iowa’s stellar athletics programs.
Also in attendance at last night’s banquet were a couple former Hawkeyes. Bill Reichow, football letterwinner in 1954 and 1955, was celebrating his 82nd birthday. Hawkeye legend Jess Settles, who played basketball at Iowa from 1993-99, was also recognized at last night’s banquet.
